When I was 12, I remember an older player that was helping our team telling us the coolest thing you could ever do before a PK was to walk up to the goalie, shake his hand, and tell him “Good luck, but there is no way in hell you are going to stop this.” The one stipulation was that if you did it, you had to score or else you would look like a fool.

While I will not be attending theWorld Cup, I will be watching as much as possible, and I can’t help but think this U.S. team might just have what it takes to make a deep run. After beating Spain and taking Brazil to the absolute limit in the Confederations Cup, expectations have never been higher, I just hope our guys (::cough, cough:: Landon Donovan) don’t choke under the pressure. What are your thoughts regarding the 2010 World Cup in South Africa?
Billed as the miss of the century, and while it is pretty bad, it didn’t affect the outcome. In my opinion, in order to be billed as the miss of the century, there has to be something on the line…
Here is an example of the type of miss I am talking about, and one that I love to bring up to Italian friends whenever I have the chance.
Great game with an even better ending. The blame for the US tying this game and potentially keeping Costa Rica from the Word Cup and be blamed on the coach of Costa Rica. No way there are 5 minutes of injury time without his outburst.

According to a new book called “The Beckham Experiment,” Landon Donovan calls David Beckham a bad teammate. If the allegations in this article are true, I would tend to agree with him.
According to Donovan, Beckham’s manager pressed the Galaxy to strip Donovan of his role as team captain, in addition to never picking up a restaurant tab for teammates making 1/500 of his salary. I am all for footing your own bill, but if I was making a salary as absurd as Beckham’s I wouldn’t have a problem spreading the wealth.
Of course, I will hold my opinion until I read the full book, but I think it is safe to say the Beckham experiment was a huge failure.
